We here at Rakeback.com have already unveiled a few of the early rumors about Poker After Dark’s 7th season, but things are really coming into focus now as the studio that produces the show has revealed many more details about the upcoming season.

Poker After Dark is a one-hour show that appears late nights on NBC 6 days a week. It features six players battling it out in a single table tournament or cash game. Each segment of the show’s season will feature the same block of players in a game that plays out over the course of a week or two.

Season 7 will kick off with a $100,000 winner-take-all tournament featuring John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, Phil Ivey, Huck Seed, Tom Dwan, and Phil Galfond. Despite starting off with a tournament, this season–unlike those in the past–will heavily feature cash games, with only a few STTs sprinkled in.

Here’s the full complement of games and players which–along with the $100,000 STT–are slated to appear on Poker After Dark, though the order in which they will appear is not yet known.

  • $100,000 NLHE cash game with Mike Matusow, Chris Ferguson, Michael Mizrachi, Brandon Adams, Peter Jetten, Jean-Robert Bellande, and Phil Hellmuth.
  • $100,000 NLHE cash game with Phil Hellmuth, Andy Bloch, Huck Seed, Antonio Esfandiari, Annette Obrestad, and Justin Smith.
  • $150,000 NLHE cash game with Eli Elezra, David Peat, Olivier Busquet, Phil Laak, Greg Mueller, and Howard Lederer.
  • $200,000 NLHE cash game with Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, David Peat, Eli Elezra, and David Oppenheim.
  • $100,000 PLO cash game with Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Brandon Adams, Brian Hastings, Phil Galfond, Patrik Antonius, and Jared Bleznick.

If you’re looking for crib notes on some of the less recognizable names on that list, take a gander at the following:

Olivier Busquet
plays online at Full Tilt Poker as livb112, where he’s racked up an astonishing $1.4 million in profit. As if that weren’t enough, Busquet has also cashed out of live tournaments to the tune of nearly $2 million. This will be his first appearance on Poker After Dark, but if the other players expect an easy mark, they’ll be unpleasantly surprised.

Brian Hastings
has the singular honor of winning more online in a single day than anyone in poker history. He’d been a fixture in the nosebleed NLHE and PLO games for years when it finally paid off huge with a $3 million heads-up win against the mysterious Isildur1.

Jared Bleznick
is another young superstar who’s made his name on the internet. His winnings on FTP total close to $2 million, most of that profit coming from PLO. He’s relatively untested in the live poker environment, though, so it’ll be interesting to see how he handles competition from the likes of Ivey and Antonius.

Mike Dappen
is an amateur poker player who won his seat on Poker After Dark in the Howard and Suzie Lederer Charity Poker Tournament. I think he’ll willingly admit that he’s a big underdog in the game, but any decent poker fan is envious of his opportunity all the same.

Melanie Weisner
is a recently sponsored Full Tilt Pro who cashed for $1.7 in online tournament before successfully making the leap to the live circuit, where she’s won two EPT ladies events in as many years.
